Saret Em Hits Chrome at Hampton Downs

There’s no better place to soak up New Zealand’s car culture than Chrome, and this year Saret Em made the trip to Hampton Downs for one of the biggest weekends on the automotive calendar.

Held from 31 July to 2 August, Chrome 2026 brought together hundreds of cars and thousands of horsepower for a weekend packed with drifting, burnouts, roll racing, cruising, drag racing, show and shine and plenty of tyre smoke.

For Saret, Chrome was a chance to get amongst the action and experience the huge variety of cars and characters that make the event such a standout on the New Zealand automotive scene. From highly modified builds to classic machinery and everything in between, Hampton Downs was buzzing with cars being pushed to their limits.

The atmosphere is a huge part of what makes Chrome special. Away from the polished world of traditional motorsport, the event celebrates the wider car community — giving enthusiasts the opportunity to get on track, show off their builds and enjoy their cars in a controlled environment.

With Hampton Downs filled with engine noise, smoke and spectators throughout the weekend, Saret Em’s visit was a fitting addition to a Chrome event that once again proved why it has become one of New Zealand’s biggest and baddest horsepower festivals.
