HomeArticlesDRAGS FOR A CURE // 2013

As we traveled out of the city heading south, the roads and weather were nothing shy of perfect. The culture of cars and support were wide throughout Meremere as the event raised close to an outstanding $10,000 towards breast cancer. With over 100 contestants, it was a show to watch as high powered American muscle v8’s to light weight VTEC’s launched down the ¼ mile strip breaking personal bests. Without a doubt this narrow strip of tar-seal became a exciting course.
Cruising through Bombay we met up with some of Lowcally known’s crew and joined the convoy to the show.
As this big block ford lit it up it was no surprise to see such a monster tear its rivals to shreds.
For such a light weight body this mk1 was an impressive piece of work hiding a seriously tuned V8
Wheelie bars mounted this was not a Bike to be messed with. After a few runs and some minor adjustments, the rider made sure to keep the crowd on their toes!
Marshal’s Evo 2 raised and widened all round for the day as “Lowcally known” not only displayed a “show and shine” but had H4VOK out for a new personal best.
Getting a closer look at this road legal rod
Keeping performance high and clean with braded lines and a Tial blow off valve
This super charged muscle took out best burnout without a doubt, blowing tyres, sending them in every direction
Ex Kon’s S13 putting on an impressive show on the burnout pad.
We were glad to see the Japanese culture in action with immaculate original plates.
A crowd favourite as it was just as clean on the inside as it was on the outside, safety netting shadowing switches and gauges.
Pouring smoke was just the start for this stunt rider performing some unbelievable manoeuvres
Drag queues filled with Mustangs eager for a challenge.
